Creating Randomized Quizzes in D2L

Randomizing questions in a quiz ensures that each student will receive a unique set of questions. Doing so can help reduce instances of cheating. D2L offers two ways to randomize questions:

Add a Question Pool

  1. Select More from the course menu bar.
  2. From the dropdown list, select Quizzes.
  3. Create a new quiz or select and existing quiz to edit.
  4. In the Properties tab, select Add/Edit Questions.
  5. elect Question Pool.
  6. Enter a Question Pool Title, Number of Questions to Select and Points per Question.
  7. Select Browse Question Library
  8. Select from the existing questions in the Question Library
  9. Select Add. The question pool will be saved to the quiz.

Shuffle Questions

  1. Select More from the course navigation bar.
  2. From the dropdown list, select Quizzes
  3. Create a new quiz or select an existing quiz to edit.
  4. In the Properties tab, check the box next to "Shuffle questions at the quiz level"
  5. Select Save and Close.

  6. Note: Shuffling questions at the quiz level does not shuffle the questions in a section. To shuffle questions within a section, choose "Shuffle questions in this section" when the section is created
